Feeds Team Releases Feeds Version 3.1.0 on Android and iOS

The Feeds team has officially released Version 3.1.0 of the Feeds social media application. In this version, the Feeds team dedicated development resources to integrating Feeds’ Web3 social media experience with existing Web2 social media platforms in order to create a more open, interoperable social media environment. Connecting with Web2 platforms also enables a more seamless onboarding process for Web2 users seeking to take their first steps into Web3.

Feeds 3.1.0: What’s New?

Building on the robust Version 3.0 released in June 2022, Feeds Version 3.1.0 integrates a pair of key functions:

  • Binding to Twitter: Users may bind their Feeds account to their Twitter account, such that the content they post on Feeds is automatically Tweeted on their binded Twitter account.
  • Local Identity Support: Identity support within the Feeds application, then allows Feeds to function autonomously without depending on Essentials or other applications. In addition, Apple’s App Store policy does not permit applications to rely on others in order to run. Thus, integrating local identity support into Feeds not only allows users to sign into Feeds directly, but strengthens Feeds’ long-term viability on iOS.

Looking Forward

As one of the Elastos ecosystem’s leading development teams, the Feeds team has a clear vision of the core principles and features they are focused on integrating into future releases of Feeds. Here’s what they’ve got in store:

  • Cross-Platform Social Media Integration: In order to contribute to a seamless and inclusive Web3 experience, the Feeds team plans to build on its Binding feature, and integrate additional leading social media platforms. At present, the team has its sights set on Reddit next.
  • Data Aggregation: In order to be a leading Web3 social media platform, the Feeds team plans to integrate social graphs from Twitter, Reddit, and other prominent platforms to enrich Feeds’s social graph data.
  • DID Management: The Feeds team also plans to release features that will enable users to manage their DIDs directly from Feeds. Direct DID management will provide for a smoother and simpler user experience – especially for those newcomers that want to explore social media in Web3, but are not yet well-versed in crypto, and who do not have Essentials installed on their devices.
