Cyber Republic Election: A Guide to Candidate Registration

Cyber Republic DAO

As another milestone year unfolds for the Elastos community, we are excited to announce the commencement of the 5th annual Cyber Republic (CR) Council elections! The Cyber Republic remains a cornerstone of governance within the Elastos ecosystem, influencing key policy, leadership, and funding decisions. Each year, the community elects a new CR Council consisting of twelve members who play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Elastos. To learn about the benefits from APY to prestige, you can read this article! This year, the elections are hosted on Essentials, Elastos’ flagship Super-Wallet application.

Important Dates:
The election period this year is set from April 28 (Block height 1,678,450) to roughly June 28 (Block height 1,700,050), you can monitor the current block height here. For additional details on the election process, including information on how to find a candidate sponsor, please read the Cyber Republic whitepaper and follow the Cyber Republic Twitter.

Getting Started

Step 1:
Launch the Elastos Essentials application. If you are new to the Elastos ecosystem, you can download Essentials for free on both iOS and Android platforms. You must fund your Essentials wallet with Mainchain ELA. To run for the Council, a deposit of 5,000 ELA is required. You can obtain Mainchain ELA and deposit it into your wallet via Gate or Kucoin. Alternatively, you can acquire Smart Chain ELA through Glide Finance and transfer it to Mainchain ELA within Essentials.

Additional: Please also make sure to register your Digital Identity (DID) in the Essentials’ DID application, which is essential for participating in various ecosystem activities including the CR Council election. Click on identity, edit information, then publish your ID.

Step 4:
Engage in the Election by navigating to the “CR Council” section within the “Cyber Republic” area of the app.

Step 4: Accept the terms and conditions.

Step 5: Fill in your candidate registration details (Note: the name cannot be modified post-registration).

Step 6: Confirm and secure your registration with your password. After registration, you’ll be directed back to the “CR Council Candidates” page with a confirmation message displayed.

Update Candidate Information:

You can update your candidate details (excluding your nickname) by selecting “Update Candidate Details” from the operations menu on the “CR Council Candidates” page.
